Kell’s Castle
Asheville, NC
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Designed by the renowned architect Douglas Ellington in 1949, this distinctive house was constructed of exposed cinder block with brick accents and banding with a red tile roof. The challenge of the four-level addition was to respect the original architecture yet provide light, airy, well-insulated spaces. The spiral stair in the connecting glass atrium provides access to the new sunroom, bedroom, studio and master suite.
